Forensic Investigators- What happened to Felix?
For students completing 6-7 grades
Forensic Investigators will:
*Study the "crime scene,"
*Conduct crime-lab tests from the evidence.
*Analyze test results, and try to solve the mystery. *Explore many key content areas
*Discover the distinction between evidence and inference.
* Complete thread tests, powder tests, DNA comparison, chromatography, and fingerprinting to determine the identification of the criminal.
*Utilize logical thinking, and real-life connections.
*Absorb processes that will be useful in all content disciplines.
$250
Treasure Boxes
For students completing K-2
In this engaging, innovative camp of mathematics activities, children:
*Create personal collections of recycled, and "found" objects.
*Use investigative properties to further develop science and math skills.
*Share in collecting, sorting, and setting up treasure boxes.
*Experience a correlation of each activity with children’s literature as a tie to additional content areas.
$150
Leap, Predict, Ponder, Play
For students completing K-2
This lively camp jumps off from one of the well-known Frog and Toad are Friends stories, "The Lost Button." The story leads to:
*Free exploration of buttons, sorting and classifying.
*Play the game "Guess the Sort".
*Design their buttons and use a graphing grid to organize data.*Students develop the valuable life skill of estimating.
* Students develop strategic thinking skills.
*Experiment in probability and statistics.
